Claudia Uke, a Projects and Costume Manager said her last good read is ‘She Stoops to Conquer’ by Oliver Goldsmith which she recently reread. “ I was trying to write a one-act play when ii decided to read it. I like the fact that the characters are alive and they speak to me personally,” she said.
In the story, Kate Hardcastle, a young lady, poses as a serving girl to win the heart of a young gentleman too shy to court ladies of his own class.
‘She Stoops to Conquer’ was first performed in 1773.
