CITN Confirms Afolake Oso As Registrar/CE

The Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) has confirmed Mrs. Afolake Olawumi Oso, as the Institute’s Registrar/Chief Executive with effect from Friday, October 18, 2024.

A statement by the Director, Corporate and Internal Services, Oyeronke Ojo (Mrs) said Afolake joined the service of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria as a Manager in the Research department in 2008 where she rose through the ranks and became Ag. Head Education and Research in 2015, she was confirmed as the substantive Head of the same department in the same year.

She was later promoted to Assistant Director in 2016 and redeployed to the Exams and Student Affairs Department in 2017.

In 2018, she was made the Head of the Corporate Affairs Department. In 2020 furtherance to a restructuring exercise by the Institute, she was appointed as Acting Deputy Director, Corporate Services, Membership and External Relations to oversee the Corporate Services, Membership and External Relations departments respectively.

In a bid to further reposition and rebrand the Institute for greater effectiveness, the Council in recognition of her exceptional performance, promoted her to Deputy Registrar, Technical and Professional Services in 2021 and she served in that capacity till when she was appointed as the Acting Registrar/Chief Executive of the Institute in January 2024. Oso is a Lawyer by profession.

She has attended several local and international trainings including a one-month Policy, Strategy and Leadership course 45 (PSLC) at the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos.

Her hobbies are reading and singing and she is happily married and blessed with Children. She is also an ordained Assistant Pastor in RCCG.

The council congratulated the Registrar and wished her success in her new capacity.
