The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has said its newly commissioned online radio and social media laboratory will train 5,000 youths in Kano State on using the tools for accountability and fighting corruption.
The centre said the studio and the laboratory were the first in the state and would assist in training the youths to acquire new skills of using social media for development and job creation.
The centre’s Executive Director, Dr Yunusa Zakari Ya’u, said the initiative, which was supported by the McArthur Foundation, would provide free training to youths in northern Nigeria particularly students.
Dr Ya’u said the radio studio was fully equipped with digital broadcasting equipment while the social media laboratory had 40 laptop computers.
