The President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, has emphasised on the need for firms to remain resilient despite the unstable economy.
Mallam Gobir stated this during a press conference to herald the 40th Omolayole Management Lecture Series (OML), themed ‘Developing A Game Changing Leader’s Mindset for Business Transformation in a VUCA World’, scheduled to be held on September 26 2024.
He said, “Today we live in a world, particularly in a country that is very volatile, that is uncertain, that is complex as it is because of our size, population and so many things that we have to deal with in the country and of course there is also ambiguity because it does not appear that we do have a solution which brings an end in sight for the myriad of challenges that we have in Nigeria.
“So the biggest takeaway from the lecture will be how to build resilient organisations through adaptive leadership often preached by Pa Omolayole and strategy thinking.

“We expect that attendees will gain insight to navigate these uncertainties, into driving innovation and harnessing opportunities in challenging times,” he said.
He described Pa Omolayole as a visionary leader, saying this year’s theme epitomised his beliefs in adopting forward-thinking leadership as a means to drive national progress.
“His commitment to people management, which he has demonstrated over the course of his life, whether as chairman of the then Unilever Brothers and till now, has of course seen to the growth of the various organisations.
“This also highlights the course of this lecture because he continues to inspire leaders to navigate and thrive in today’s rapidly changing environment,” he said.
Also, the president of AIESEC Alumni Nigeria, Olubunmi Abejirin, recalled past editions, stressing that some of the outcomes have benefited the country.
