Speaking on the sidelines of the award, Mrs Ahmed stressed the need for professionals in the banking system to build and uphold integrity in their daily dealings.

She noted that upholding the highest level of ethics and professional standard in the banking industry were critical, stressing that it was the responsibility of members of CIBN to “conduct ourselves both in our personal and professional lives at high standards.”

She urged CIBN to continue to encourage them to persist in their commitment to enhancing the level of standards of professionals.

The Chairman of the Council of CIBN, Mr. Uche Olowu, noted that the financial crisis of 2009 “was brought about by dubious and illicit activities of bankers who granted sub-prime mortgages to low-income customers with troubled credit histories.”
