The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, Abuja has provided medical treatment and foodstuff to residents of the Navy Barracks, Pegi, Kuje, FCT.
The medical treatment involved diagnoses and treatment or referral for severe blood pressure, diabetes, ulcer, malaria, HIV, hernia, Hepatitis B and C, ovarian cysts, kidney and liver diseases, eye tests, etc while the foodstuffs included rice and other food materials.
Speaking during the event, the Pastor-in-Charge of the church, Gbolade Okenla said it was organised as part of the charge by the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye for members of the church to reach out to neighbours and fellow citizens.
“It is based on the vision of our General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye and our Christian social responsibility, we have a duty of care to all our neighbours, so we have come here to provide medical care and food relief to all the officers in this barracks,” he said.

In his comments, the medical director of the church, Dr Theophilus Ado said the outreach aimed to fill the medical needs of parts of the society, while charging the government, non-governmental organisations and the church to do more in healthcare provision.
Similarly, a medical team member, Dr Bolarinwa Emmanuel, said the programme is also used to counsel residents on the importance of lifestyle modification to achieve maximum health.
