Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed 1,000 bags of 25kg rice to the Christian community in Yobe State for Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
The first lady’s donation was facilitated through the Northern Nigeria Christian Political Forum to cushion the hardship in the country.
Handing over the foodstuff to the beneficiaries, the Yobe State Coordinator of the Forum, Mr Saidu Ajeje, said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the economic hardships faced by Nigerians.
He said the president’s wife was donating the 1,000 bags of 25kg rice to the Christian community across the 17 LGAs of the state for the yuletide celebrations.
He said the forum was prioritising widows, widowers, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, saying that the donation would bring joy to many families during the season.
