Cholera: Kebbi street vendors sensitised on food handling

To curb food diseases, particularly cholera, in Kebbi State, no fewer than 50 street food vendors have undergone capacity building training on how to optimise hygienic practices for safe handling of food.

While speaking to journalists at the training centre, the Coordinator of APFSAN, Dr Yusuf Abdulrahman Bashir, said the objective was to provide the food vendors with basic knowledge on best practices for safe handling of food.

He said, “We expect that by the end of this training every participant would be able to uphold optimal hygienic practices for safe handling of food.

She further said, “I now know that I have to cut my nails and wash my hands before cooking safe and nutritious food. I also have to make my environment clean.”
