China’s Xu Hui has emerged champion of the 2018 edition of Total Charity Golf Tournament held at the IBB International golf and country club in Abuja at the weekend.

Hui had earlier won the Independence tournament at the same venue at the start of the month before now edging other 149 contenders to win the charity tournament.

The Chinese scored 38 points to make the best nett and condemn D. Sanya who also scored same points to the second position.

C. Shaiven scored 37 points to pick the third position at the tournament which was staged to gather funds for the less privileged in the society.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Managing Director of Total E&P Nigeria Limited, Mr Nicolas Terraz said the tournament was conceived in 1995 to bring together golfers, colleagues, friends, busine3ss partners and other stakeholders for a weekend of great fun and networking.

In his speech which was presented by the company’s Asset Management and New Energies Executive Director, Patrick Olinma, Terraz said the tournament was refined in 2011 to focus more on the less privileged people in the society.

“Now known as the Total Charity Golf Tournament, the event has become a platform for reaching out to the less privileged members of the society,” adding that all the proceeds generated from the tournament will go to charity.

While disclosing that N1.2 million had been generated from the tournament, he said N1.5 million each will be donated to Fortitude Children’s Home in Lugbe, Abuja and Anawim Home in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Fortitude Children’s Home cares for vulnerable children while Anawim Home was founded for adults and children with special needs.

According to Terraz, the next edition of the tournament will be held at the Ikoyi golf court next year.
