China seeks Media Trust support on diplomatic relations

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China has appealed for Media Trust’s support in promoting its activities in Nigeria and China for better diplomatic relations.
Director Political Section, Du Sheng, made the call when he paid a working visit to the Editor-in-Chief/ED, Naziru Mika’ilu Abubakar, at the Daily Trust Head office in Abuja, on Wednesday.
He said the Chinese embassy had been having a good relationship with Daily Trust for many years but added that it should be improved.
“We appreciate the wonderful relationship between the embassy and Media Trust and we are here to see how we can improve it, to widen the Chinese voice to the local people and help them have a real picture of situations in China,” he said.
He said that most of the former Chinese ambassadors to Nigeria were addicted to Daily Trust for its format and style of reportage.
“I mean the fairness, the statistics, data analysis and the investigative reporting,” he said.
He urged Media Trust to maintain its policy of fairness, balanced and unbiased reporting.
He also appealed for more collaboration with the company on ways to enhance cooperation between Nigeria and China.
On his part, the Editor-in-Chief said the relationship with the Chinese embassy was a long-standing one and very cordial, and it would be moved to the next stage.
He appreciated their visit and promised that Media Trust would uphold its principles of fairness and objectivity in reporting.
