Principal officers of State Children’s Parliament and Girl Ambassadors yesterday asked the Federal Government to make them part of the decision-making process in the country.

They demanded this in a communiqué after a two-day capacity building training for principal officers of State Children’s Parliament and Girl Ambassadors.

They said they should always be allowed to express their views on issues affecting them, including child labour, child marriage, healthcare, child abuse and limited access to education.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has said his administration is laying a solid foundation for a better quality of life for future generations in the country with the investment in critical sectors in the last seven years.

He said this in a statement yesterday by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, to celebrate with young Nigerians on the occasion of this year’s Children’s Day.

“With our investments in infrastructure, youth development, education, information and communication technology, digital economy, culture, arts and entertainment in the last seven years, I believe we’re laying a solid foundation for a better quality of life for future generations in the country,” he said.

He said his administration would continue to work hard to give every child access to education.

Buhari expressed his commitment to seeing a further significant reduction in the number of out-of-school children.

He said Nigerian children deserved the best and a safe country  where they could grow, make friends, interact and travel freely, and emerge as successful leaders in different fields.
