Chelsea’s Brazilian winger Willian Borges Da Silva has confirmed the death of his mother.
The 28-year old Chelsea 2015/16 player of the year revealed the sad news with a long poem in his native language on Instagram early Thursday where he confirmed that he is in a period of mourning.
Borges Da Silva had earlier revealed in September that his mother, who had cancer, was undergoing chemotherapy before she eventually lost the battle during the international break.
He has returned home to London and is in contention to face Leicester City on Saturday after playing and scoring in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Venezuela on Sunday.
But it is yet to be known whether manager Antonio Conte will omit him from the team sheet for the crunch tie.
