Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson for the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign, on Monday taunted Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), hours after his principal’s Chatham House outing.
He spoke as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.
Daily Trust reports that Peter Obi, LP flag bearer, spoke at Chatham House in the United Kingdom on Monday.
The candidate responded to varying questions on how he intends to lead Nigeria if he wins next month’s election.
Okonkwo said Obi was so “stingy” that he refused to “share” answers to questions directed to him during the appearance.
Tinubu had during his campaign rally in Akure, Ondo State capital, said Obi was stingy to have saved money when he was governor of Anambra State instead of developing the state.
“Obi has a chance to show up a progressive when he was a governor of Anambra State, all he could do was to boast that he save money when he was the Governor of Anambra state.
“Obi has nothing to be proud of instead he made people of Anambra cry and he claimed to be party labour leader. It is only a wicked father that will save money when his children is starving. The people of Anambra are starving and you claim you are saving money, that is wickedness,” Tinubu had said.
But speaking during the show, the LP spokesperson said, “His (Obi’s) appearance today (Monday) at Chatham House is not just an appearance that will further Labour Party or further his candidacy but his appearance has projected Nigeria as a pride of the black race, has projected Nigeria for what it is; the giant of Africa.
“I’m so proud of my principal who was so stingy that he went to Chatham House and refused to share questions; he was answering the questions, in contradiction to the generous APC candidate who went there and shared the questions for other people to answer.”
In December, Tinubu made an appearance at Chatham House, where he revealed some of his plans for the country if elected.
During the event, the ex-Lagos state governor delegated some of his allies including serving governors and lawmakers to answer questions posed by participants.
