The Kaduna Zone of the Muslim women humanitarian group, Sisters of Jannah (SOJ), has launched an appeal fund to enhance its support for the needy and also empower women in the state.
Speaking at its fifth “Year Award and Sisters Hangout” in Kaduna, the state Coordinator of SOJ, Hajiya Bilkisu Abdulmumin, said the association was launching the fund because members had become overstretched due to increasing number of the needy in the society.
Hajiya Bilkisu said, “In the last five years, the association has witnessed a lot of challenges while striving to help the less privileged, but due to Allah’s mercy, we have been able to put smiles on a few faces.”
While assuring that the funds realised would be used purely for humanitarian services, she appealed to private and corporate organisations, government, as well as wealthy individuals, to join hands towards the noble cause.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Kaduna Polytechnic, Ustaz Abubakar Sadiq, urged Muslims to always strive for the cause of Allah by spending their wealth on charity.
The guest speaker, from Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital, Dr Kudirat Abdulkareem, who spoke on menopause, urged women to be aware of hormonal changes in their bodies, to exercise a lot and improve on their diet.
A motivational speaker from Halal Orphanage, Aisha Yakubu, stressed the need for Muslims to give out charity, saying, “You never know how the little charity you give out becomes a turning point in the lives of others.”
