A charcoal merchant, Sikiru Boshere, and one of his workers, Filimo, were on Sunday around 10pm abducted by gunmen in Kwara State.
A witness told our correspondent that the main victim, “Is a young charcoal exporter and is among the few well-to-do personalities in Jebba.”
He further said, “The kidnappers laid an ambush around his residence at Labour Camp, Jebba, and attacked him as Filimo was about to open the gate.
“But when he saw them, he (Filimo) tried to escape but was seriously beaten. The kidnappers later whisked them away. In the process, the shoes of one of their abductors fell, which is now with the police, who responded after about 45 minutes.”

He noted that, “Nobody could go close to them because of the way they were shooting sporadically.”
One of the boys of the charcoal exporter (name withheld) told our correspondent that the second victim (Filimo) was later released by the kidnappers around the Bachita area.
The spokesman of the police in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident, said, “A case of kidnapping was received this morning, one victim is already rescued while efforts are ongoing to rescue the other and possible arrest of the kidnappers.”
