Charcoal dealers nabbed for providing logistics to bandits

Soldiers have arrested two charcoal dealers over allegedly conveying foodstuffs and drugs to bandits in the Akoti Forest in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State.

A community, who disclosed this, said they were arrested at a checkpoint in the Kudiri area on Saturday.

He said the troops, during a stop-and-search on a pickup van, recovered a bag of rice, a gallon of palm oil, drugs, cartons of table water, cough syrup, wines and hemp.

He said, “The soldiers had been on their trail for over a month after they got information that the two charcoal dealers often ran errands for the bandits.”

He further said that the pickup’s driver was freed after interrogation.

The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comment on the arrest.
