Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai has charged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to embrace entrepreneurship skills and not see their school certificates as a meal ticket.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream II NYSC Orientation Course for corps members in the state, El-Rufai urged them to utilise the opportunity the NYSC has given them through the entrepreneurial training in various vocations and micro-credit facilities to change their lives within the service year.
He also urged them to use the service year to add value to their lives by charting the right course.
Represented by the Commissioner, Human Resources and Social Development, Hafsat Baba, the governor said the state government will continue to recognise and reward corps members who perform excellently at the end of the service year.
The acting Director General, NYSC, Mrs Christy Uba, said the NYSC management remains committed to making adequate provisions for their welfare and security.
She also harped on ensuring the corps members’ safety as well as addressing other essential needs for a fulfilling service year.
