CEO of Africa Movie Academy Awards, Peace Anyiam is dead

The CEO of the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards(AMAA) Peace Anyiam-Osigwe is dead. The filmmaker and a bigwig in the Nigerian filmmaking sector who is often described as the “Queen of Nollywood films” died in the early hours of Tuesday, January 10.

In a statement released by the family of the deceased, the renowned filmmaker was acknowledged as an outstanding personality, trailblazer, titan, pathfinder, go-getter, and humanitarian.

Announcing her death, the family stated via a press statement titled, ‘Peace Maria Ogechi Anyiam-Osigwe: An epitome of creative transcendence, the family wrote, “The Emmanuel Onyechere Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe clan in thanksgiving to God and in the belief that God is good and everything He does is good and in accordance with His divine will, pattern and plan, announce the passing to eternal glory of our illustrious beloved daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt Ms. Peace Maria Ogechi Anyiam-Osigwe (MFR)

 Peace is one of the few prominent individuals that shaped the face of the new Nollywood industry in Nigeria, due to her tremendous contributions.

Peace Anyiam is one of the most prominent figures in the Nigerian entertainment section, asides from being the founder of the globally acclaimed film ceremony, Africa Movie Academy Awards, she was also the President of the Association of Movie Producers, (AMP).

Peace also directed the first music video of hip-hop sensation, P-Square. In 2012, she was bestowed a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contribution to the entertainment industry.
