The National Centre for Women Development (NCWD) at the weekend concluded a five-day ICT skills acquisition training for female technicians and Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs).
The training, which took place in Abuja, had over 90 participants consisting of 45 female technicians and 45 PLWDs, who undertook various courses in ICT and mechatronics.

The Director-General (DG) of NCWD, Dr. Asabe Vilita Bashir, said the centre was committed to the implementation of the plan of action adopted by the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) which included two important areas for PLWDs: access to information and knowledge and capacity building.
NCWD’s Director of ICT, Mr Johnson Morrison Udobong, maintained that with technology playing a role in all careers, making such skills accessible to girls, women and PLWDs would set them up for economic independence.
