The United Population Fund (UNFPA) says counting every Nigerian during the 2021 Population and Housing Census will be a complex exercise except citizens participate in large numbers.
Speaking at a message development workshop for staff of the National Population Commission (NPC) yesterday in Abuja, UNFPA’s Resident Representative, Uller Mueller, said the accuracy of the final figure presented to the public after the exercise would depend on convincing the population on the importance of the census.

She said an effective communications strategy for awareness and public support would be essential to the success of the 2023 census.
Chairman, NPC, Nasir Isa Kwarra, said the workshop was preceded by the conduct of a Rapid Result Research on Census Awareness and Attitudes through Focus Group Discussion in the six geo political zones to generate information for evidence-based messaging for the 2023 population and housing census.”
