Permit me to congratulate the management of Voice of America, VOA, Hausa Service, on its 41 years anniversary . I wish you many more years of diligent service to humanity. The service was established on the 21st of January, 1979. It is worth mentioning that out of the 47 languages that the VOA broadcasts its contents, Hausa is one.

In my view, If you understand Hausa Language and do not listen to International Radio platforms; such as: VOA, RFI, BBC, and Deutsche Welle services etc., I strongly advise that you start listening to them. In addition to listening to local services, one would benefit a lot from listening to foreign media in view of the “input” of professors, Doctors, and experienced public servants being aired through their interviews on several issues .

Every native of Hausa must be proud of  the  international recognition that is given to the language. The Hausa Language is among the few languages in Africa which attract many International Radio stations. We have Voice of America, VOA, Hausa service ,which has been broadcasting news in Hausa for 41 years now. British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, Hausa Service, has been broadcasting news in Hausa from 1957 to date (63 years). You can also watch them on “Capital TV” Ghana.

In Germany, Deutech welle Radio, DW Hausa service, has been broadcasting news in Hausa Language from 1953 (67 years), just like Radio Moscos World service, Hausa 1961; Radio Sin (China) International, Hausa, 1941; Radio Libya, Hausa; Radio Tehran (Iran) IRIB, Hausa ; Radio TRT Hausa and Radio Muryan Alkahira, Egypt and Radio France International 2007, among others.

The Hausa Language is being spoken in about 32 countries out of the 54 Independent African countries. The Hausa Language is being taught as a course in many European universities and many other African Universities. A lot of European researchers study the Hausa Language in order to make their research works easier in terms of gathering data, especially in West Africa and other parts of Africa. We have many Europeans as professors of Hausa Language.
