CDS visits Plateau warring villages to encourage peace

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Abayomi Olanisakin, has visited some villages in Plateau State to ascertain the level of peace achieved by Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security taskforce maintaining peace in the state and some parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states.

Plateau had experienced a  series of ethno-religious crises leading to the formation of OPSH to restore law and order.

During a visit to Mangu Halle and Chanso communities of Mangu LGA of the state, Olanisakin, represented by Air Commander E. K. Adedokun, said he was happy people in the areas have already embraced peace, urging them to continue preaching the gospel of oneness among them.

“My message from the CDS is to encourage you to embrace one another irrespective of any difference. President Buhari and CDS are assuring you that they would continue to protect lives and properties in Plateau and other parts of the country. I am happy that you are cooperating with OPSH to actualise this, “ he said.

While appreciating the cooperation from the communities, Air Commander Adedokun commended officers and men of the OPSH for working to restore peace  in the state.

Abdulqadir Muhammad, the traditional ruler of Chanso, commended CDS and personnel of the OPSH for visiting the community.

“This visit has given us confidence that peace would be restored in the state. We are ever ready to cooperate with the security. We are thankful for the palliative given to us by the OPSH.”
