CDHR vows to resist rigging, vote-buying in OgunĀ

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has warned political actors against rigging, vote-buying and violence ahead of the next elections in Ogun State.

The National Secretary of CDHR, Yinka Folarin, who handed down the warning in Abeokuta, vowed that any attempt to subvert the votes’ will at the polls would meet stiff resistance.

He spoke at the Ogun Civil Society Conversation with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Gubernatorial Candidate, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, organised by the CDHR Ogun in conjunction with Human Rights and Grassroots Development Society (HRGDS) in Abeokuta.

The human rights activist told the public office seekers to eschew dubious means of attaining power, adding that they should rather “visit the electorates market with their manifestos, intimate and convince the electorates why they should be seen as a proven alternative.”

Folarin equally warned against heating up the polity “with campaign of calumny, hate speeches and actions that have the potential of causing disunity and disaffection among the people.”
