CCT chair mourns Yunus Ustaz Usman

The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Mainasara Umar Kogo, has expressed profound grief over the passing of esteemed senior lawyer Yunus Ustaz Usman, SAN, who died on Wednesday.

In a heartfelt condolence message issued in Abuja, Kogo praised Usman as a deeply religious individual, emphasising his contributions to national unity and cohesion. He noted that Usman was not only a distinguished lawyer but also a true patriot who worked tirelessly to build bridges of love, goodwill, and tolerance—qualities essential for fostering a strong and stable Nigeria.

Kogo described Usman’s death as a significant loss, extending his sympathy to Usman’s family and to Nigeria as a whole. He prayed for the late SAN, asking Almighty Allah to grant him a place in Jannatul Firdaus, the highest part of paradise.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Yunus Ustaz Usman, was laid to rest in Kaduna on Wednesday, following Islamic burial rites. Usman passed away in the early hours of the day at the age of 67.

The funeral prayer for the late SAN was held at the Sultan Bello Mosque at 4pm, after which he was interred at the Unguwar Rimi Cemetery in Kaduna.

Called to the Nigerian Bar on July 30, 1983, Usman ascended to the highest echelons of the legal profession, being conferred with the rank of SAN. Notably, he was the fifth person from Northern Nigeria to receive this honour.
