CCD Launches Project Access to Justice , Calls for More Finding of Disability Organizations

The Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) has called for increased funding by donor agencies for institutions and organizations  that are concerned with people living with Disabilities, this call was made by the centre at a press conference anchored by it executive director David o anyaele, held at Elomaz Hotel Ikeja, Lagos.
The Centre which also launched the project on promotion of access to Justice, and Political participation of persons with Disabilities with funding from voice of Nigeria which has the  objectives of ensuring relevant Government agencies and institutions have a better understanding of the disability law, the media committing itself to investigative journalism on issues that has to do with Persons with disabilities, and also ensuring that democratic governance is made wide enough for persons living with disabilities to participate with the Lagos state government serving as a model.
The Centre hails INEC for recruiting corp members suffering with disabilities as ad-hoc staff in the Just concluded Osun state Governorship elections and further recognized the importance of INEC’s framework on access to Persons with disabilities in the electoral process.
The organization also called on Political Parties to mainstream person’s with disabilities in there scheme of things through positions in the National Working Committee and also allowing them fly the parties flag in the forthcoming elections.
The Centre also called on the media to continue to be at the vanguard of protecting the rights of the disabled most importantly ahead of the very crucial 2023 general elections, saying the media is the eyes, hands and legs of the pwds with a call on them to ensure issues of concern that affects them are mainstreamed in the 2023 elections narratives.
