Eight people have sustained injuries after a car summersaulted and plunged into a ditch last Friday afternoon near Chikara village, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.
A witness said the incident happened about 3:12pm when a Volkswagen Saloon car with registration number KJA 49 XU lost control and plunged into a ditch after one of its tyres burst.
He said the driver who was conveying passengers from Lokoja to Abuja, applied brakes when the tyre burst and the car summersaulted and crashed into a ditch.
He said those injured were taken to hospital by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abaji.
Our reporter also learnt that five persons were also injured in another accident which occurred on Sunday afternoon at Kekeshi village on Abaji – Toto road.
It was gathered that the accident happened at about 3:23pm when a Golf car with registration number AH 804 BJ lost control and crashed in a ditch, leaving five persons injured.
When contacted, the Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander (ACC), Olasupo Esuruoso, confirmed the accidents.
He attributed the two accidents to speed limit violation, loss of control and tyre burst, saying all the injured passengers were taken to Abaji General Hospital.
