Car bursts into flames on Ojuelegba bridge

Few hours after a vehicle plunged into a river in Epe with three casualties recorded, no life was lost on Saturday night when a vehicle with unknown registration number burst into flames on the Ojuelegba bridge, inward Barracks in Lagos.

The fire incident was alluded to electrical malfunction in the vehicle by emergency responders after investigations.

It was extinguished by the Federal Fire Service, and the burnt vehicle recovered by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) with its heavy duty equipment, thereby averting any secondary incident.

“The incident obstructed free vehicular activities inward Barracks. The burning vehicle was extinguished by the Federal Fire Service,” said LASEMA  Public Affairs head, Nosa Okunbor.

He said the carcass of the burnt car was recovered off the road with aid of the emergency agency’s heavy-duty equipment.

Okunbor explained that the operation which was conducted in collaboration with the LRT, LASTMA, FRSC and the Nigerian Police Force to evacuate the burnt carcass off the road to prevent secondary incidents and ease vehicular activities was concluded at about 20 minutes past midnight on Sunday.
