The much anticipated 2021 Kano Polo Club Captain Cup tournament came to a flourishing climax last weekend, with Nasiriyya Furniture and M-seven teams emerging winners and runners-up respectively.
To earn their first ever Captain’s Cup title, Nasiriyya parading Khalifa Baba Aiman Shehu, Faruk Nasoro and Abdulrahman Mohammed defeated their arch rivals, M-seven squad boosting Kamal Aminu, Usaini Mohammed, Aminu Garba and Ado Ismail in a tense final match to wear the 2021 crown.
The M-Seven team had gone into the fiercely fought final full of confidence, having finished the first weekend of the tournament with maximum points beating Susplan 7-3, before disconnecting EssBee Mobile 5-3 in the second game.
However Polo Royals can report that their confidence could not take them past the resolute furniture makers whose solid defensive wall mounted by Abdulrahaman and their determination to prove bookmakers wrong, paid off bountifully with sole crown of the tournament.
Other ambitious teams that participated in the winner-takes-all trophy that remains one of the biggest polo titles of offer for only playing members of the Kano Polo Club includes, are Essbee Mobile, Kano Nakudu, Fas Agro, Dantex, Akasma and Kano Susplan team pivoted by Ado Ismail.
