The General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr. Musa Asake, died yesterday in an undisclosed hospital after a brief illness at the age of 66.
The CAN president, Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle in a statement through his spokesman, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, said Rev Asake would be missed by all.
He described his death as shocking and a big loss to the nation. Asake was born on September 15, 1952 in Unguwan Rimi, Bajju-Kafanchan in Zangon Kataf LGA of Kaduna State. is last official assignment was the April 27 press conference he addressed on the incessant killings in the country, where CAN urged Christians to embark on a peaceful protests to charge the federal government and security agencies to rise to their constitutional responsibilities.
His younger brother, who was a former member of the House of Representatives, Jonathan Asake, confirmed his death yesterday morning.
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday joined the national leadership of CAN to mourn the late scribe. The president’s condolences were contained in a statement by his spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina.
While commiserating with the family, Buhari prayed that God Almighty comfort all those mourning him and grant his soul eternal rest.
