Speaking on behalf of the Kaduna State chairman of CAN, Bishop George Dodo, the secretary of the association, Mr. Sunday Ibrahim, noted that the prisoners were set free in accordance with the gospel of Christ which says “When I was in prison you visited me.” While making the payment, he warned the ex-prisoners to make the best use of their lives outside prison advising them not to indulge in any form of crime again.
Earlier, CAN chairman Bishop George Dodo had called for fraternal love among Christians and Muslims in the country, noting that it is only through fraternal love among both faiths that Nigeria can return to peaceful co-existence. Bishop Dodo while addressing newsmen ahead of the Christmas said the season is not meant for merry making alone but also a moment of heralding the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is love, peace and salvation. Dodo who is also the Bishop of Zaria Catholic Diocese beseeched Christians to be sober and security conscious as they go about their Christmas celebration. He also urged citizens of Nigeria to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
