Reverend John Joseph Hayab, Kaduna State secretary of CAN, who gave the caution while addressing newsmen yesterday, also said, “the politics of who occupies the office of the vice president is taking an unclear direction with a lot of speculations and strategies to favour potential people without much premium and consideration for competence, merit, positive capacity and sound ability needed to man the office.”
According to him, “the selection of a vice president or any other position at this time should not be done like sharing of gifts, complementary cards and souvenirs like it is being done in some cases. In entrusting leadership on people, let’s be robust and do it devoid of sentiments and pleasing certain interests or meeting political expediencies of perceived godfathers of the system.”
The state secretary noted that Nigeria was at a cross roads and needed a re-birth in order to change for the better. “We are bankrupt in virtually all sensitive sectors of our national life,” he said, adding that, “mistrust, animosity and suspiciouns of all kinds have marred our nation.”
