As the campaigns for the 2023 elections have been kicked off, the Plateau Police Command says it has commenced the deployment of police officers to flashpoints in the state.
It said the move was to nip in the bud any unforeseen circumstances capable of jeopardising peace in the state.

Bartholomew Onyeka, the state police commissioner, disclosed this during a stakeholders meeting with heads of security agencies, political parties and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), organised by the command.
He said the meeting was primarily to ensure that the upcoming elections are conducted peacefully, and to provide stakeholders with a unique opportunity to dissect current law enforcement realities and engage in an all-inclusive approach to re-evaluate security policing strategies against the backdrop of the dynamics of crime in the state.
