The Rivers state government has cautioned the campaign team of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubarkar, against disobeying court order, which directed that its campaign office in the state be sealed.

Following a court order, the state government had sealed Atiku’s campaign office in the state last Friday for violating executive order.

“The Rivers state executive order 22 prohibits the location of a political campaign office in a residential area. It was the court that ordered the place to be sealed up,” Kelvin Ebiri, Wike’s spokesperson had said.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Alagbo Chris Finebone, warned Atiku’s campaign that it would pay heavy price if it disobeys the court order.

He said that dragging the name of Governor Nyesom Wike to issue of revocation of the certificate of occupancy is absolutely pointless, saying that anybody that disobeys court order will pay dearly for it.

“They know that if they have acted in disobedient of the order of court, they will pay heavy price. Dragging the name of the governor into their self-inflicted misfortune is absolutely pointless.

“They should know that the court or judiciary is outside the control of the governor but operate independently.

“Predicting the consequences of their indiscretion with a view to scuttling it and diverting attention has become obsolete tactic,” he said.
