A pro-democracy group under the aegis of Joint Action for Good Governance in Cross River State has said the campaign of calumny against the state governor, Ben Ayade by desperate politicians will fail.
A statement yesterday by the leader of the group, Imbufe Jude said the governor has made an impact in the administration of the state and should not be distracted.
The Network against Corruption and Trafficking in Abuja called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe Ayade over alleged financial impropriety and money laundering.
But reacting yesterday, the Joint Action for Good Governance said the move was aimed at derailing the current administration and preventing it from delivering dividends of democracy to the people.

“We dare say without fear of contradiction that Governor Ayade has been very transparent in the management of resources of the state and has been above board. Cross River State gets the second lowest revenue allocation in the country. What the so-called NGO said is the most incredulous falsehood of the century,” the group said.
It threatened to expose the politicians behind the plot and advised those allegedly planning to sponsor miscreants to cause crisis during the inauguration of the new administration on May 29 to desist from it.
