Following incessant kidnapping in the state, the Cross River State Traditional Rulers Council (CTRC) has embarked on visitation to all the 18 local government areas of the state to invoke traditional sanctions and curses on criminals, including kidnappers, cultists and armed robbers.

The traditional rulers were on Wednesday in Bakassi and Akpabuyo LGAs, where they invoked the curses.

The council had a few days ago released a statement to the effect which was misconstrued to have emanated from the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V.

The Chairman of CTRC and paramount ruler of Bakassi, HRH Dr. Etim Okon Edet, told journalists that, “It is not the Efiks or the Obong of Calabar that issued the statement”.
