Cairo’s Al-Azhar Uni holds Qur’an recitation competition in Abuja

The Al-Azhar University, Cairo through the Egyptian Embassy in Nigeria, in conjunction with the Muslim Community Centre (MCC) Abuja has conducted Qur’an and hadith competition for students of the College of Arabic and Islamic Studies (CAIS), one of the many educational institutions of MCC.

The event which was concluded on Tuesday 25 May 2021 was marked with a closing ceremony in Abuja, where prizes/awards were given to winners.

Three Technical Aid Corps Egyptians teachers from Al-Azhar University serving in MCC were commended for contributing to the success of the competition.

The leader of the Egyptian teachers, Sheikh Sayyid Al-Hasanain Al-Hasanain al-Mu’allim, conveyed the goodwill message of the Al-Azhar University and appealed to the students to pursue the search for knowledge, particularly the study of the Qur’an and hadith.

The Chairman, Governing Board of the MCC, Senator Usman Kibiya Umar, who was represented by Alhaji Salihu A. Bala, Chairman, Islamic Education Committee of the Centre, commended the Sheikhul Azhar, the Management of the Al-Azhar University, Cairo as well as the Egyptian embassy in Nigeria for their continuous support to the MCC, Abuja.

He said that the MCC was in the process of establishing a University in Abuja, in the light of which he expressed optimism in strengthening the relationship between the Al-Azhar University and the MCC when the University comes on board.

Al-Azhar University, Cairo, has a long-time working relationship with the College of Arabic and Islamic Studies of the MCC, Abuja including deployment of teaching staff, offer of admissions on scholarship for students to study in Al-Azhar University, Cairo and short-term academic courses for staff.
