Cabinet reshuffle: Onwuliri now Minister of Education (State)

President Goodluck Jonathan has redeployed the Minister of Foreign Affairs I, Professor Viola Onwuliri to the Ministry of Education as Minister of State to replace Nyesom Wike who resigned to pursue political ambitions.

Jonathan, at today’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting also named supervisory ministers to replace the ministers who quit the cabinet on Monday.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II Nurudeen Mohammed is now supervising Minister of Information; the Special Duties Minister Tanimu Turaki, now supervising Minister of Labour; while the Minister of State for Health, Khaliru Alhassan is now supervising Minister of Health.
The supervising Minister of Information disclosed this development to State House journalists after the FEC meeting.

Mohammed said the president also directed the Ministers of Defence, Industry and Niger Delta Affairs, Aliyu Gasau, Olusegun Aganga and Stephen Oru respectively to supervise their ministries of state.
It would be recalled that the Ministers of Information, Labour, Health, State for Education, State for Industry, State for Defence and State for Niger Delta, Labaran Maku, Emeka Nwogu, Onyebuchi Chukwu, Nyeson Wike, Sam Ortom, Musiliu Obanikoro, Ishaku Darius respectively resigned to pursue their gubernatorial ambitions.
