Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has asked the state’s Ministry of Works to resume and complete the construction of the Adiabo-Ikoneto Mega Bridge initiated in the mid-1990s under the late General Sani Abacha’s government.
The Commissioner for Works, Pius Ankpo, disclosed this yesterday while briefing newsmen after the state’s executive council meeting.
Ankpo assured that the project, including the compensation for the right of way for the ongoing construction along the Ikot-Nyong to Itu bridge, would adhere to high standards of professionalism and quality.
Regarding compensation for the right of way, Ankpo clarified that priority would be given to those with ancestral structures, while individuals who hastily erected structures to make claims should not expect compensation.
