Cross River govt hails youths for blocking ‘theft’ at PHC

The Cross River State Government has commended the youths of Bebuabie community in Obudu LGA for stopping the Coordinator of the Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mr Christiana Akeke, from stealing property from the Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in the area.

Speaking in Calabar, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Ayuk, expressed appreciation for the resistance, saying such communal behaviour helped to secure government property.

He called on other communities in the state to borrow a leaf from Bebuabie and take ownership of government infrastructure in their localities as the government alone could not guarantee the security of its investments.

He warned anyone with similar sinister motives to back off as the government would wield the big arm of the law on whoever tried to thwart its drive towards strengthening the health sector of the state.
