Ifeoluwa Ehindero has emerged as the candidate of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Akoko Northeast and Northwest federal constituency bye-election scheduled for February 3.

Ifeoluwa, the son of the erstwhile Inspector-General of Police, Sunday Ehindero, was announced as the standard bearer of the APC at the party’s primary held at the weekend.

He emerged as the winner after beating his main challenger in the primary, David Makinde who scored one vote among the 9 aspirants who jostled for the party’s ticket.

Recall that the federal constituency seat became vacant in the House of Representatives following the resignation of the former lawmaker, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who was appointed as Minister of Interior by President Bola Tinubu.

Announcing the result of the primary at the Victory College in Ikare, Akoko area of the state, where the primary took place, the Chairman of the Election Committee, Abdulkadir Nasir, described the primary as peaceful and transparent.

Nasir noted that the success of the exercise was a result of the guidelines put forward to all the aspirants by the party before the commencement of the exercise.

Earlier, the President of Akoko North East Youths, Mohammed Kazeem, had rallied for support for Ifeoluwa, noting that he’s capable of bringing development to the constituency.

Kazeem, who urged the people to vote for Ife in the election, said the APC candidate was capable of replicating the achievement of Tunji-Ojo in the area of development.

“The interest of my local government is a priority. We saw what Honorable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo did for our people, and we trust him to give us a candidate to continue the good works. Ife Ehindero has proven to be the best; we will support him to win,” he added.
