Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday reiterated that no candidate had emerged as its flag bearer for the East Senatorial by-election slated for October 31, 2020.
Spokesman of the party, Hon. Seye Oladejo, made the clarification in response to Daily Trust’s enquiry following widespread report that the MD/CEO of Polaris Bank, Tokunbo Abiru, had been endorsed as the consensus candidate.

Daily Trust reports that INEC had fixed October 31 for the election while the APC had fixed the primary for Thursday, September 3.
In response to the purported endorsement, Oladejo said: “We haven’t held a primary yet. Everyone still remains an aspirant. The candidates for the respective by-elections will only emerge after the primaries.”
Our correspondent gathered that no fewer than 10 aspirants had emerged for the senatorial by-elections in the APC while many aspirants had also emerged in the PDP.
Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the opposition PDP has constituted a five-man by-elections screening committee to screen aspirants for the Lagos-East and Kosofe state constituency by-elections. The committee is chaired by Hon. Tajudeen Yusuff with other members, including Daisi Akintan, Mrs Helen Adebakin, Dr Adekunle Akindele and Barr. Jacob Otokpa (secretary).
The screening of the aspirants for the two elections would take place tomorrow (Tuesday) at the party’s secretariat, it was learnt.
