The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Dachung Pam Mwadkon of the African Democratic Party (ADP) and Daniel Asama of the Labour Party as the winners of the Plateau North Senatorial District and Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency rerun elections.

INEC conducted the court-ordered rerun elections in the senatorial district and federal constituency following the nullification of the elections of Senator Simon Mwadkwon and Musa Agah, both of the PDP.

Declaring the results, the Returning Officer for the Plateau North Senatorial District, Professor Nestor Chagok of the University of Jos, said Dachung Pam Mwadkon scored 122,442 to defeat his closest challenger, Shafi’u Yakub of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), who scored 53,980 votes.

On his part, Professor James Damen, who served as the Returning Officer for the Bassa/Jos North Federal constituency, also declared that Daniel Asama of the Labour Party scored 66,422, defeating the second challenger, Muhammed Alkali of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), who scored 61,670 votes.

But the candidate of the NNPP for the senatorial election, Yaqub Shafi’u, has rejected the results of the polls, alleging that the INEC rescheduled the elections to favour the candidate of another political party.

Our correspondent reports that some party agents refused to sign the final result of the elections.

In Kaduna, Saleh Zock of All Progressives Congress (APC) won the Saturday’s Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency rerun election.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Haruna Aminu of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, who announced the result on Monday, said Zock won with 42,461 votes to defeat his closest rival, Umar David of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 26,218 votes.

The election took place in six constituencies covering seven local government areas of Chikun, Igabi, Kaduna South, Kudan, Kachia, Kagarko and Kauru.
