Residents of Old Vival Hospital area of the Sabon-Gari community in Bwari Area Council of the FCT have appealed to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and the area council for an additional transformer to address the continuous power outage in the area.
The residents said the aged transformer could no longer serve the community, adding that it recently blew off and threw the community into darkness.
A resident, Samuel Joseph, said when the transformer was returned some weeks ago, the AEDC decided to be rationing power because of overloading.
He said, “Even at then, you will not see light when it is your turn, and the situation is affecting the majority of the households.”

Another resident, Riskat Ijaodola, said all efforts by the community to get an additional transformer from either the AEDC or area council, as well as the Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, yielded no result.
She said, “We are begging AEDC, the Bwari Area Council and other concerned authorities to come to the aid of the community.”
