Yahaya Isah was said to have recently decamped with thousands of his supporters to the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the council.
Reacting to his defection, APC’s FCT vice chairman, Musa Jatau, said Yahaya Isa had never participated in any APC’s organised activity in the territory and therefore could not have claimed to be a member of the APC.
But Isah’s supporters, who claimed to have decamped with him to the PDP, said Yahaya Isah was not only a member of the APC before dumping the party but also a stakeholder who served as a member of the harmonisation committee that gave birth to APC in the FCT.
One of the supporters, Benjamin John Achanya, said he was also a member of the defunct committee that gave birth to the APC alongside Yahaya Isah and wondered why someone will now claim that they were not members of the party they all contributed to form.
“Yahaya Isah even headed APC’s reconciliation sub-committee at the state level to reconcile aggrieved party members at Kuje Area Council. During the formation of the APC, any card carry member of the legacy parties that collapsed to form the APC automatically becomes a member of the party. So what are they saying,’’ he asked.
Chief Raymond Ugwu, leader of Yahaya Isah’s supporters in Kuduru ward, described Musa Jatau of the APC as a person that rose politically through the political structure of Yahaya Isah, who he described as a leader of politicians in the ward.
Joseph Izunya, South-South leader in Bwari Central, said Yahaya Isah left APC because of his interest in the people of Bwari, saying APC as a party was just looking for cheap popularity in the area.
The Turakin Bwari, Abdulsalam Ibrahim, said the people of the area are solidly behind Yahaya Isah and ready to move en masse to his new party.
