A 40-year-old butcher, Ibrahim Alabi, a driver, Muritala Adio, and two others, Abdulrafiu Balode and Rafiu Anafi, have been arraigned in a magistrates’ court sitting in Ilọrin South LGA of Kwara State over theft of a cow and receiving stolen property.
According to the police First Information Report (FIR) report, based on credible information about some dubious members among the butchers within the Ilorin metropolis, operatives stormed the residence of Alabi in the Oloje area where a suspected stolen bull was recovered.
The statement reads in part: “But you claimed to have bought the cow through the other suspects at the rate of N370,000 against its market value of N1.4m.
“Investigation revealed that you, Ibrahim Alabi, paid the sum of N20,000 to Muritala Adio who took the cow with your vehicle, a green Volkswagen Golf with registration: BDU 822 AA, to your house.”
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the suspects.
However, the defence counsel, Toyin Onaolapo, rejected the prayer.
The Magistrate, Dayo Ifalokun, granted the accused bail and adjourned the case to May 27, 2024.
