Business activities pick up in Kaduna metropolis after renewed violence

Business activities have gradually resumed in Kaduna metropolis after renewed violence across the metropolis last week. Markets, shops, banks and schools were opened for business in some areas.

Although Daily Trust observed on Monday and Tuesday that some shops and schools were offering skeletal services within the main city area.

Most Igbo traders along Kano road, Katsina road, Ibahim Taiwo ‎and Sheikh Gumi Central markets remain closed on Monday‎.

But on Tuesday some of them  were seen opening for business.

The State Government on Sunday relaxed the 24-hour curfew within the metropolis after relative peace returned to the city centre.

Now residents can ‎move freely from 6 am to 5 pm daily according to the government.

It was also gathered that some residents are still not comfortable with the situation which was ‎why they were still reluctant to open their shops and schools for business,

Most of the residents interviewed thanked God for returning peace to the state.

‎”We are happy that peace has returned to the metropolis and we hope this will be the end of such unnecessary crisis,” said a provision seller

“I didn’t allow my children to go to school on Monday because we are not yet certain whether the miscreants will cause any trouble. But we are happy now with the peace in the metropolis,” said a food vendor who didn’t want her name mentioned.
