The Code of Conduct Bureau expressed worry over sex for grades in tertiary institutions across the country, saying the problem continues to persist because the victims are not speaking out publicly.
A board member in the Bureau, Professor Samuel Ogundare, made the remarks at the two-day train-the-trainer programme on strict compliance with asset declaration and Code of Conduct for public polytechnics and monotechnic officers organised by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in collaboration with Go-Getters Consultant Limited in Kaduna.
He also described sex for grades as an abuse of office by lecturers at either the university or polytechnic, noting that there is a code in the bureau that talked about abuse of office by public officers.
NBTE Executive Secretary, Dr. Masa’udu Adamu Kazaure, represented by Director, Polytechnic Programmes, Musa Isgogo, said it is expected that participants return to their institutions and conduct similar training for their staff.
