Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has suspended Hon. Idrissa Mai Bukar, the Chairman of Machina LGA, three weeks after he and 16 others were sworn in following their victory in the June 9 local government elections.
The suspension was announced in a statement by Shu’aibu Abdullahi, Press Secretary to the Secretary of the State Government (SSG).

Abdullahi said Governor Buni exercised his power under Section 2 of the Local Government Law 2019 (as amended) to approve the suspension due to Mai Bukar’s misconduct and insubordination.
Governor Buni directed the suspended chairman to hand over the affairs of the council to the vice chairman, pending further directives.
