Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has flagged up the construction of 40km Gujba-Mutai road as part of efforts to rebuild critical infrastructure affected by the insurgency in the state.
Speaking during the flagging off ceremony on Wednesday in Damaturu, the state capital, Buni said the contract would cost N6.3 billion with a completion period of 12 months.

He said the project would be executed through the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP), a World Bank/Federal Government funded programme.
He said the poor state of the road over the years had affected agricultural and economic activities in the area.
According to him, the reconstruction of the road would stimulate economic growth, improve revenue generation and boost employment opportunities.
Buni charged the contractor to execute the project in accordance with the contractual agreements.
