Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has through the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation (MWCEEG) empowered 100 members of the National Union of Road Transport Union (NURTW) with new Toyota Avensis cars.
Buni while launching the empowerment programme in Damaturu said the vehicles were given to the members of the union at a subsidized rate of N2 million payable within two years.
The governor said the government would provide another cash support of N1,356,000,000 to identified 68,000 small and medium-scale businessmen and women, orphans, widows and vulnerable persons for empowerment across the state.
“All these measures are taken as part of the state recovery plan to support the less privileged and the businesses affected by the decade-long insurgency in the State,” Buni said.

The Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation, Abdullahi Bego, said the governor considered the economic rejuvenation of the people as key to promoting self-reliance across the state.
